GMC’s Anti-Ragging Committee frames charges against 3 MBBS students

Srinagar, Apr 12: The Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar’s Anti-Ragging Committee has framed charges against three MBBS students from various batches for physically assaulting each other, using unparliamentary language.
In this regard, the students who have been found involved in ragging have been identified as Baber Hameed (batch 2018), Waseem Shamim ( Batch 2018) and Sameer Nazir ( Batch 2019).
The Chairperson Anti Ragging Committee in this connection informed that it received a complaint of physical assault in the college campus on 07-03-2022. After going through the complaint, it was found that three students have resorted to unparliamentary language, besides, resorted to physical assault on each other.
“Anti-Ragging Committee enquired the matter and reached the conclusion that a written apology may be sought from both the students duly attested by their parents with the affirmation that they will not indulge in any such activities in future and will strictly abide by all the rules and regulations of the college,” the committee said.
It said that the culprit Baber Hameed Roll No. 47 of batch 2018 may be imposed a cash fine of Rs. 2000 to be deposited in the student’s college fund.  “Both the students may be debarred from theory/practical/clinical classes and any exams till all the formalities are completed.”
“At the time of admission, these students have submitted an affidavit duly signed by the 1st Class Judicial Magistrate with affirmation that they shall not indulge in any activities in the college campus which shall be prejudice to the academic affairs of the college,” the committee said.
It said that, prima facie, it has been established that these students have resorted to indiscipline, which warrants action as per rules.
“Now, therefore, these students are directed to explain their position within 48 hours, failing which, it will be presumed that these students have nothing to say in their defence.”
