JAMMU, Oct 17: The Institutional Ethics Committee of Government Medical College, Jammu on Saturday cleared decks for 226 research projects in a board meeting held here.
The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Prof (Dr) Kuldeep Sharma (Former HOD Zoology and Dean Jammu University) and patronage of Principal and Dean GMC Jammu, Prof (Dr) Nasib Chand Digra.
Welcoming the members of Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) and researchers, the Chairman applauded the support of GMC administration particularly for Dr Digra for not getting the research and medical education suffered in GMC Jammu even during COVID pandemic.
Prof (Dr) Sanjay Kumar Bhasin, Members Secretary of IEC, informed that as per the directives, the Committee shall work from the office allotted to it for proper office and record maintenance.
While presenting the current report he said that 226 research proposals were received by the IEC office under various categories of research modules that includes 169 ‘Plan of Thesis” for the research work to be conducted by postgraduate students of the 2019-2022 session.
After securitization of the projects submitted to the IEC for ethical clearance 59 projects were put to full board for deliberations and clearances, they being either category A or B projects.
The main projects under Category A and B which came for discussion included ‘Assisted Vaginal Delivery and Caesarean section at full dilatation at tertiary level hospital: incidence, impact and current management’, ‘CSIR-Sickle Cell Anemia Mission Project(HCP-0008)’, “Development of cheaper and rapid methods for molecular diagnosis of COVID-19 using alternate and simpler sampling protocols” ‘Study to assess NAT yield in whole blood donors of tertiary care centre of Jammu region’, “Prevalence of DAT in pediatric patient population” and Seroprevalence of IgG SARS- COV-2 Antibodies among health care workers in GMC Jammu and its associated Hospitals.
