UDHAMPUR, Dec 7: Believe it or not, a school whose foundation was laid in the year 2003 at Tikri Zone near here is still incomplete.
This lackadaisical approach of the authorities towards education sector triggered protest by the villagers of Rajpura along with the students of Government Middle School Rajpura against the Education Department and district administration.
The protesters raised slogans against Education Department and District Administration.
A local informed that work on the School was started in April 2003 and locals had donated land for that.
“Initially Rs 4 lakh were sanctioned for the construction of the school building and a local contractor was engaged for this task.
As per the agreement the construction was supposed to be completed by 2012 but this not happened while in the meantime Rs 90,000 additional were sanctioned for construction of kitchen shed and after this again Rs 44,000 were allotted for the construction a toilet in the school.
In 2015 Rs 85,000 was allotted to the contractor with promise that the school work shall complete soon but till date complete school building is nowhere in sight.
Locals have appealed Governor Satya Pal Malik to took into the matters.
Sanjay Singh, Kali Dass, Shiv Kumar, Parshotam Singh, Manoj Singh, Deep Singh, Arun Lal, Rakesh Kumar and others were also present in the protest.
