Goats, sheep, other live-stock killed in leopard attack

RAJOURI, June 30: A poor family from village Dassal in district Rajouri suffered a massive loss after a leopard attacked their goats, sheep and other live stock, leaving them dead.
Locals said that a leopard entered the cattle shed of Raj Kumar, a resident of Dassal village (Ward No 14) in district Rajouri last night. In the incident, eight sheep and goats were mauled to death and eight rabbits and ten cocks were also killed.
The villagers have appealed the administration to provide necessary financial assistance to the victim family as the said person has no other source of income.
Locals have appealed the District Administration and Wild Life Department authorities that a proper search must be conducted in the area as some wild animals have been seen roaming in the area posing great threat to life and property of locals. Moreover, similar appeal was also made from village Dhangri by the villagers as leopards were also seen in the area.
