JAMMU, Dec 29: J&K’s Republic Day contingent comprising of 102 NCC cadets representing all the three regions—Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh was flagged off today.
The contingent was flagged off by Lieutenant General RR Nimbhorkar, GOC 16 Corps from NCC Academy Nagrota to Delhi.
Major General SS Jakhar, Additional Director General, National Cadet Corps, Jammu and Kashmir welcomed the Corps Commander and highlighted hard work put in by cadets and staff in selection and training the contingent for various national level competitions.
He stated that the selection process has been very tough for the cadets, where after undergoing through three grueling and arduous Pre ROC camps, they were selected for the final and fourth camp, which is primarily meant for honing the skills for various competitions at National level.
Corps Commander while addressing the cadets complimented them for their hard work in preparations and wished the contingent high success in the various competitions in which it would participate at the Republic Day Camp.
He observed that the NCC activities comprise a very important part of school and college education and said the significant expansion in the NCC network in the past several years was a matter of great satisfaction.
Cadet Sachin Chaudhary will be leading the boys Contingent and Cadet Jasmina Chib will be leading the girls Contingent.
10 cadets from the J&K NCC who have been selected after stringent tests will be competing for award of Best Cadets at National Level.
In the senior category, Cadet Sachin Choudhary, Cadet Jagdev Singh, Cadet Garima Charak, Cadet Shivani Bhagat, Cadet Arti Devi and Cadet Ravit Kumar have been selected, whereas in the junior category, Cadet Rehajeet Kour, Cadet Adeeb-Ul-Islam, Cadet Akash Thakur and Cadet Tabish Bin Mushtaq have been selected. In addition 8 cadets will also compete for selection for the Youth Exchange Programme.
