GOC honoured, given warm send off by LAHDC

LEH, June 20: General Officer Commander of Leh based 14 Corps, Lt Gen Ravi Dastane was honoured and accorded farewell on completing his tenure by the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council in a function held here today.
Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC Rigzin Spalbar while highlighting the major contributions of Lt Gen Dastane in strengthening the bonds between army and civilians in Ladakh region which is significant from national point of view, mentioned about the drastic increase in the supply of vegetable quota by civilians to the army which has directly benefited the local farmers enhancing their economic growth.
He also lauded the support of the GOC in opening certain restricted areas in Leh district for tourists through recommendations made to the Central Government. While exhibiting sincerity and proficiency in duty, Lt Gen Dastane has served the local civilians in better way, Mr Spalbar maintained.
CEC also referred to various civic action programmes undertaken by the Army in Ladakh area under his command which have proved highly beneficial for the people of Ladakh, especially those residing closer to the border. He honoured the GOC on behalf of the people of Ladakh. All the Executive Councilors, DC and SP Leh were also present on the occasion.
