GOCs brief CM on situation

JAMMU, Apr 6: Top officials of Army’s Western Command today met Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and discussed overall security situation and other important security issues with him including the security scenario prevailing along Jammu borders.
GOC-in-C Western Command Lt Gen K J Singh and General Officer Commanding (GOC), 9 Corps, Lt Gen Rajiv Tewari called on the Chief Minister at his residence here this afternoon, official sources said.
During the meeting, Lt Gen Singh briefed the Chief Minister about the overall security situation in the areas of his responsibility, particularly along International Border in Jammu region and beyond, they said.
The Army Commander also discussed the present security scenario in Jammu region, they added.
The Chief Minister discussed with Lt Gen Singh several important issues relating to external security management in the region, they said, adding that AFSPA also came up in discussion.
The Chief Minister was presented a Memento along with a Coffee Table Book by GOC-in-C Western Command on the occasion.
