Gold worth Rs 8 lakh recovered as police solve snatching case

JAMMU, Oct 6: Police in Jammu’s Bus Stand area claimed today they have solved a snatching case by recovering 11 tolas of gold worth Rs 8 lakh.
A police official said that acting swiftly on a gold snatching incident that occurred on September 29, 2024, a case FIR number 50/2024 under sections 126(2) and 307 of the BNS Act was registered at Police Station Bus Stand.
He said post registration of FIR, a special team led by SP City North Jammu and led by SHO Bus Stand with SDPO North in the supervisory roles, arrested four individuals involved in the crime.
They were identified as Himanshu Sharma of Patoli Brahamana, Sumeet Sharma of Patoli, Vikas Bhalla of Muthi, and Shreekant Yadav of Maharashtra.
On sustained questioning, he said, the stolen 11 tolas of gold was successfully recovered from their possession.
Further investigation into the case is underway, he added.
