UDHAMPUR, Apr 17: Referring to the recently report issued by CAG in which it has been observed that non utilization certificate of more than 10,000 crore is not provided to the CAG, Provincial president of National Conference, Rattan Lal Gupta today alleged that transparency and good governance was missing in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the workers meeting at Majalta in Udhampur today Rattan Lal Gupta said, “Democratic decline in Jammu and Kashmir has affected everyone and that every single sector of the region ranging from economy to public welfare has taken a direct hit. The decision-making process reflects both centralisation of power and unilateralism.
“We keep hearing that J&K is the crown of the country but the treatment being meted out to this much touted crown is not up to par. The inordinate delay in the restoration of a popular Government has sown the seeds of unaccountability in governance. The regression of democracy has had a cascading effect on the local economy, business, trade, handicraft, horticulture, agriculture, employability, public utility services, education and health care sector. Any further delay in the restoration of the people’s rights will put the region on the path of no return,” he said.
Criticising the anti-poor and anti-youth policies of incumbent Government, provincial secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmed said problems of the people have multiplied over the years with major brunt being faced by the educated unemployed due to burgeoning unemployment problem.
“There is little strategic thinking on Jammu and Kashmir. No one is looking beyond the immediate events and short-term calculations of petty political gains,” he said.
While addressing the gathering DP Udhampur Sunil Verma said, “Joblessness had increased manifold with limited options available to the aspirants and the slow pace in the recruitment process.”
