Goods worth Rs 2,512.33 cr imported, Rs 2,679.9 cr exported through cross LoC trade

Srinagar, June 18: Government today said the goods worth Rs 2,512.33 crore were imported and Rs.2, 679.9 crore exported through cross Line of Control trade.
In a written reply to a question of MLA Rajesh Gupta in Lower House, Minister incharge Industries and Commerce Department stated that goods worth Rs 2,512.33 crore have been imported and  goods worth Rs.2, 679.9 cr exported through cross LoC trade via Salamabad, Uri and Chakan-da- Bagh trade routes.
In his supplementary, Gupta asked what Government was doing for proper screening of the products so that products from third country like almonds from Canada could be completely stopped. In his reply, the Minister said: “All products are screened properly but we lack full body truck scanners which will be installed within next two years as we have to import the machinery.”
A total of 670 traders are registered to carry out the trade activities including the 144 which were added during the year 2014-15, the Minister stated. He said the Government is taking new steps to boost the trade like upgradation of Trade Facilitation Centres at Salamabad, Uri and Chakan-da-Bagh Poonch, revised agreed list has been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs, 6 ISD lines have been restored by Department of Telecommunication, Government of India and revision of SOP has been requested to Home Department.
The banking plan received from Union Ministry of Home Affairs regarding establishment of banking facilities at TFC, Salamabad Uri and TFC, Chakan-da-Bagh, Poonch has been approved by the State Government and the same has been conveyed to Centre, he said.
