JAMMU, Mar 20: Maintaining that Gorkhas are one of the bravest and dedicated communities that have been contributing to the socio-economic environment of the region, J&K BJP president Sat Sharma said it is a pity that the community was denied even the basic rights under the garb of highly inhumane and controversial Articles 370 & 35 (A).
Sat Sharma was addressing a deputation of Gorkha community under the leadership of Karuna Chettri, president Gorkha Sabha, J&K. Sunil Prajapati, president J&K BJP OBC Morcha had facilitated the meeting at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
During the meeting, Sat Sharma patiently listened to the issues and grievances put forth by the deputation and assured that all of their genuine issues will be taken up with the concerned authorities to provide them the relief in the shortest possible time. He said that the BJP believes in ‘Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas, Sab Ka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’. BJP remains committed to this mission and provide ‘Right to live with dignity’ to all the sufferer communities with the abrogation of controversial Articles on August 5th 2019, he added.
Earlier, the deputation extended gratitude to the BJP leadership for abrogating Articles 370 and 35(A) and the subsequent grant of Domicile rights/benefits to the Gorkha community. They also thanked the BJP leadership for the grant of reservation under OBC Category.
The deputation requested for the inclusion of Gorkha Community in the Central OBC List, so that they can also avail the Centre’s OBC certificate to make them eligible for Central Government Jobs and admission in the Central Educational Institution.
The deputation also requested for the regularization of the Gorkha Nagar community where they are residing permanently for the last 2 centuries.
Meanwhile, J&K UT, Janata Dal United (JDU), Chief Spokesperson, Liyakat Ali Dar, after resigning from his party, joined BJP in presence of the senior leaders at Trikuta Nagar office.
He was inducted into the BJP by party President Sat Sharma, General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, and other leaders.
Liyakat Ali Dar said that his decision to join the BJP was influenced by the party’s commitment to peace, security, and development in Jammu and Kashmir.
