JAMMU, Oct 30: Government of Jammu and Kashmir today accorded sanction to constitution of a Union Territory Level Governing Committee for reviewing and assessing the progress of District Mineral Foundation Trust Funds.
Headed by the Administrative Secretary, Mining Department, the committee shall review that the DMFT funds have been utilized in the district in accordance with statutory guidelines, rules and regulations.
The committee shall provide oversight by examining the strategies and initiatives undertaken at District level to harness DMFT funds for the welfare and development of mining affected areas/communities.
Further, the committee shall facilitate cooperation among various stakeholders, including Government departments, Mining Block holders and local communities to enhance the effectiveness of DMFT initiatives.
The committee shall meet twice a year for reviewing progress of DMFT and setting agenda and roadmap for District Level Committee. Director, Geology & Mining, J&K; representative of Finance Department, representative of department of Rural Development & Panchayti Raj and representative of Revenue department are members of the committee while Director, Finance, Mining Department is the Member Secretary.
