KATRA, July 4: The 30th meeting of the Governing Council of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Charan Paduka, Katra, was held here today in which a number of important decisions were taken for the future growth of this institution as a centre of excellence. Mahamandleshwar Shri Swami Vishveshvaranand Giriji Maharaj, Member of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Council for the Gurukul, chaired the meeting, which was attended by Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board; Navneet Singh, Additional CEO; Prof Vishwamurti Shastri; Dr Jagdish Chander Mehra, Joint CEO, SMVDSB and Administrator of Gurukul; Mahesh Sharma, FA/Chief Accounts Officer; Gopal Dass Sharma, Head Pujari, Bhawan; and Dr Dhananjay Mishra, Principal of the Gurukul.
The Administrator, SMVD Gurukul, presented a brief appraisal of SMVD Gurukul, action taken of the previous meeting and the outstanding achievement registered by the students of Gurukul in the Annual examinations.
The Governing Council, while approving annual budget of Gurukul for Financial Year 2022-23 (Grant-in-Aid by Shrine Board) from Rs 565.00 lakh to Rs 620.00 lakh, also approved fellowship scheme for the students of SMVD Gurukul and directed Administrator to furnish a proposal for further deliberation on distribution of seats for the selection of top 10 students at Shastri Level.
Increase in intake capacity of the students from 20 to 30 in Class 6th during the upcoming session 2023-24 was valso deliberated and while taking a holistic view, it was decided that the same shall be done after taking comprehensive review of all aspects.
The GC directed that preparation of Annual magazine be entrusted to an editorial team comprising students from Shastri Part -III headed by Principal in consultation with Administrator, SMVD Gurukul.
The GC was also informed that the Shrine Board had made elaborate arrangements for indoor and outdoor games at Gurukul for all-round personality development of the students and emphasis was being laid on sports, games, debating competitions, music and other extra-curricular activities alongside academics.
The Chairman directed the CEO for engagement of Counselor in SMVD Gurukul who may help students overcome behavioral problems, improve their time management, establish academic goals, resolve interpersonal problems with other students and work through personal problems.
