Government is deliberately heaping hardships on exiled Pandits : JKVM

JAMMU, June 13: Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM) has taken the Government to task for turning a blind eye to the host of problems faced by the exiled Kashmiri Pandits.
In a press statement issued here today Dr R L Bhat, Apex Committee Member and national vice president of the Manch has said that not a single one of the high promises made by the Chief Minister at the recent Apex committee meeting has been fulfilled, putting the exiled community to maximum hardship and humiliation.
He said in this hot weather the Government has curtailed power supply of the Jagti camp to 10 hours despite the fact that crores of rupees are being obtained from the Center in name of the migrant camps and facilities for the exiled people.
He said Jagti is simply the camp and the Government has provided camp facility to only about 5000 families out of a total of 38, 000 exiled families registered at Jammu i.e. just 13% of the people displaced from Kashmir and they too are being denied the basic amenities, he added.
Dr Bhat said similar apathy has been shown with respect to the enhancement of the relief for the migrants. The State Government has granted relief to only 42% of the people displaced from Kashmir. Out of these nearly 5000 families are Muslims and others who are getting the “Migrant Relief” at Srinagar itself. All this is being paid out of the SRE funds obtained directly from the Central Government in addition to the regular funding of the State.
He said same apathy has been shown to the employment as only 1400 employments have been granted to the exiled K P youth out of the 6000 jobs promised in the PM’s package.
This continued apathy had forced JKVM to boycott the Apex Committee meeting chaired by the CM. Two months have passed after the pious promises made by CM, nothing has been done by the Government.
