Government unsparing when it comes to punishing the corrupt : PM

NEW DELHI :  Terming corruption as the biggest challenge facing the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the government is unsparing when it comes to punishing the corrupt.   Addressing the inaugural session of the 6th ‘Global Focal Point Conference’ on asset recovery, Mr Modi said,”Corruption is the biggest challenge facing the country today. ”   ”India is in a crucial phase of nation building. There is a need to fight relentlessly against corruption to eradicate poverty,” he said at Vigyan Bhawan.      The Prime Minister said the government has taken significant steps to check corruption and the menace of black money.   ”We have constituted a special investigation team under Supreme Court to look into the issue. Comprehensive and deterrent law has been enacted that provides for stringent penalties.   The government is unsparing when it comes to punishing the corrupt,” Mr Modi said. (AGENCIES)
