Governor, CM extend greetings on Kabir Jayanti

SRINAGAR, June 19: Governor N.N. Vohra has extended greetings on the birth anniversary of Sant Kabirdas.
Governor has, in his message, said that Sant Kabirdas was a great poet, saint and social reformer of India and his writings greatly influenced the Bhakti movement. Describing him as an apostle of peace and harmony, he said that the Sant’s teachings are altogether relevant today as they offer solutions to many vexed problems of the contemporary world.
The Governor expressed hope that this auspicious occasion would be the harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has also extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of ‘Kabir Jayanti’.
In her message, Ms Mehbooba said Saint Kabir is known as the torch-bearer of ‘Bhakti Movement’ who preached the oneness of God, love, peace and universal brotherhood.
The Chief Minister said Saint Kabir’s teachings should inspire the people to lead a life of purity, righteousness and contentment by following the path of divinity and morality and setting aside the differences on the basis of caste, creed and religion for the larger welfare of the humanity.
