Governor, CM greet people on Kheer Bhawani Mela

SRINAGAR, June 5: N N Vohra, Governor, has felicitated the people on the eve of Kheer Bhawani Mela.
In his message of greetings, the Governor observed that the festival is a shining example of communal harmony and brotherhood, which are the hallmark of the glorious pluralistic ethos of Jammu and Kashmir for centuries past.
The Governor, on the occasion, prayed for peace, harmony, progress and prosperity in the State.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has also extended greetings to people particularly Kashmiri Pandits on the occasion of Zestha Ashtami being celebrated in the Valley as Mela Kheer Bhawani.
In his felicitation message, the Chief Minister prayed for peace and well-being of the people of the State and the country. He wished the day to be herald of happiness, development and peace in the State.
Highlighting the significance of Mela Kheer Bhawani in the pluralistic ethos of the State, Omar Abdullah said that the celebration of the Mela in amity and brotherhood has remained the trait of the people here since ages. He called for strengthening this trait and brotherhood between various sections of the society.
