Governor, CM greet people on Baisakhi

JAMMU, Apr 12 : Governor, N. N. Vohra, and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi.
In a message of felicitations, the Governor observed that this day has a special significance for the people of Northern India, particularly for the Sikh community as the Khalsa Panth was born on this day, which also marks the beginning of the New Year in the Indian Calendar.
The Governor said that in the Northern States, Baisakhi also marks the commencement of the harvesting season, when farmers reap the fruit of their hard work. He observed that the celebration of this festival is a shining example of our glorious pluralistic traditions.
The Governor prayed for peace, harmony, brotherhood, progress and prosperity in the State.
In his message on Baisakhi eve, the Chief Minister highlighted the rich ethos of Jammu and Kashmir of celebrating festivals and holy occasions in an atmosphere of brotherhood and amity. He expressed the hope that this characteristic of the State would get further strengthened.
Omar Abdullah wished peace, prosperity and development of the State and the country.
