Governor, CM greet people on Eid-ul-Fitr

SRINAGAR, July 17: N. N. Vohra, Governor, has conveyed warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
In a message of felicitations, the Governor expressed hope that this auspicious occasion would be the harbinger of peace, progress, prosperity and happiness and would strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood and amity, which are the hallmarks of J&K’s glorious pluralistic traditions.
The Governor prayed for the progress and well-being of the people of the State.
Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed also greeted people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, wishing them well-being and prosperity.
In his message of felicitations on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, Mufti Sayeed reminded the people about the essence of the festival, especially remembering the poor and needy and sharing happiness with them.
The Chief Minister urged the people to celebrate the occasion with those who were ravaged in the floods of 2014. “Eid embeds the message of taking care of the needy and making them part of the happiness by extending financial support to them,” he said.
Mufti Sayeed said the spirit behind observance of Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month, is to express our gratitude to the Almighty Allah for giving us courage to observe fasts in Ramadhan and rededicate ourselves to truthfulness, sincerity, self-control, patience and piety, thus showing complete obedience to Allah.
He expressed hope that this holy occasion will strengthen the bonds of communal harmony and bring peace, prosperity and well-being to the State and the people all over the world.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, joined congregation of thousands of people at Asar-e-Sharief, Hazratbal, to offer Friday Nimaz on the auspicious occasion of Jumat-ul-Vida, here today.
Vice Chairman, J&K Wakaf Board, Peer Mohammad Hussain, was also present on the occasion.
Immediately after offering nimaz, Mufti Sayeed interacted with several people and extended to them warm Eid-ul-Fitr greetings.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
