Governor, CM greet people on Janamashtami

SRINAGAR, Aug 9: Greeting the people on Janamashtami, N  N  Vohra, Governor, has prayed that this auspicious occasion would be a harbinger of sustained peace, progress and prosperity and further strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, amity and harmony in the State.
In his message of felicitations, the Governor observed that the divine message of Lord Krishna, enshrined in the Shrimad Bhagvad Gita, exhorts mankind to strive for the ultimate truth and for every individual to carry out his duties to the best of his ability without worrying about the outcome of his endeavours. He added that these teachings provide a firm foundation for building a harmonious society.
On this auspicious occasion, the Governor prayed for the well-being of the people of the State.
In a greetings message, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah highlighted the characteristic of Jammu and Kashmir in celebrating festivals and holy occasions in communal amity, brotherhood and togetherness. He said sharing happiness with others adds colour to the celebration.
The Chief Minister prayed for peace, development and prosperity in the State and the country.
