Governor, CM pay tributes to Sheikh Abdullah

JAMMU, Dec 4: Governor N.N. Vohra  and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah  today  paid rich tributes to Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on his birth anniversary and recalled his significant contribution to the development of Jammu and Kashmir.
In his message, the Governor observed that Sheikh Abdullah was a charismatic leader and a social reformer who fought for the rights of the oppressed sections of the society, irrespective of caste, creed or religion. He strived for the sustenance of the secular and pluralistic traditions and strengthening of belief in the democratic framework.
The Governor said that a befitting tribute to Sheikh Abdullah would be continuous endeavour towards strengthening of democratic institutions and maintenance of   communal harmony and brotherhood.
Paying rich tributes to late Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Omar Abdullah described the late leader as the symbol of amity, unity and progress of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Sheikh Abdullah denotes the State’s high traits of pluralistic ethos and communal harmony. He nurtured and strengthened this characteristic and cemented the bonds of love between various sections of the society and different regions of the State”, he added.
The Chief Minister said that Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was the epitome of sacrifices and he always fought for the cause and dignity of people. “His target was empowerment of common man and equitable development of the State. His vision of ‘Naya Kashmir’ embedded holistic and comprehensive development of all sections and all regions”, Omar elaborated.
Omar Abdullah said that Sheikh Abdullah’s high principals and sacrifice would continue to guide us to march on path of peace and development with a commitment.
Omar said that the best way of paying tributes to the great leader is that we strive for peaceful, progressive and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
