JAMMU, Dec 9: At the invitation of the United Services Institution (USI) New Delhi, the Governor, N.N. Vohra, delivered the USI National Security Lecture (2013) on “Civil Military Relations: Opportunities and Challenges”.
In his hour long address at the USI, the Governor dwelt on the various important aspects of Civil Military Relations and emphasized the need for the required steps being taken to maintain civil-military balance in handling issues relating to higher defence management.
The Governor maintained that nothing must ever be done to disturb the traditionally warm and respectful relations which the over 122 crore people of the country have towards 14 lakh serving personnel, 27 lakh ex-servicemen and the well over 2 crore persons who represent the families of serving and retired Defence Services personnel.
He appealed to all civilians, as well as all those in uniform, to sustain their unswerving loyalty to the country, always and ever, and not to ever forget: who lives if India dies.
