Governor for clean governance, efficient administration

SRINAGAR, Feb 17: Governor N N Vohra has stressed the vital importance of the entire Governmental machinery providing clean and hassle-free governance to the people at large and ensure efficient functioning of every administrative department.
He was chairing a high level review meeting of officers at Civil Secretariat during a daylong visit to Srinagar.
The extensive meeting was attended among others by Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, Parvez Dewan, Advisors to Governor; B R Sharma, Chief Secretary, B B Vyas, Financial Commissioner Planning and Development; P K Tripathi, Principal Secretary to the Governor; R.K Goyal, Principal Secretary Home; K. Rajendra, DGP; Rohit Kansal, Commissioner PWD (R&B) and PHE I&FC; Asgar Hassan Samoon, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; Nazeer Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-K and Showkat Ahmad Zargar, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
“You are all senior and experienced functionaries and have increased responsibilities when an elected Government is not in place. It is, therefore, your duty to provide clean, efficient and accountable services to the people,” the Governor advised the officers.
“I meet people from various walks of life who complaint about the difficulties faced by them. It’s our duty to plug all loopholes and resolve all problems on time-bound basis,” he said, adding “people have high expectations and we should not let them down. We must show better performance on all fronts.”
The Governor directed officers to review every case pending in their departments and address all problems on time-bound basis. He urged them to ensure punctuality in attendance of all staff and their working in a completely professional manner.
Asgar Hassan Samoon, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir briefed the Governor about the various ongoing developmental schemes in Kashmir Division.
The Governor directed the heads of various departments to work tirelessly for the welfare of the State. “I have taken an oath to run the State for the betterment of the people. I want the best results from all of you. You are well versed with the work in your departments and the areas in your charge and you should give your best to serve the State better,” he said.
The Governor also asked the officials to ensure timely availability of high quality and high-density fruit plant rootstock in Kashmir. He ordered the officials to create awareness amongst the orchardists about the use of the specialised lab at SKUAST-K.  He directed high quality fruit plant nurseries being set up in Kashmir.
The Governor asked the officers to make best use of Information Technology for extending various services to people of the State.
“Services to people are to be improved on priority basis. I don’t need to tell and I don’t want to tell you. What I need is better results on the ground from all of you,” he said. The Governor emphasized that concrete steps should be taken by the administration regarding the effective redressal of grievances across the State. He also desired that accountability should be fixed at all levels to ensure that the problems of the people are solved on a time bound basis.
