SRINAGAR, Sept 4: Governor N N Vohra has greeted people and particularly the teaching fraternity on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.
In his message, the Governor stressed that the Teachers’ Day is a very special occasion for appreciating the vital role played by teachers and honoring them for their contributions in varied fields of learning and research.
For good reason the Teachers’ Day is celebrated on the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, an eminent Indian teacher, philosopher and statesman who served as the first Vice President of India (1952-1962) and the second President of India (1962 to 1967).
Recalling Dr. Radhakrishnan’s observation that “teachers should be the best minds in the country”, the Governor said that they are a very important element of the society and, since ancient times, have been revered for their valuable guidance to humanity.
The Governor called upon the teachers to eternally strive for imparting the best education to the youth and also focus on their wholesome personality development.
