SRINAGAR, Oct 24: Governor N.N. Vohra inaugurated the “Hindi Kashmiri Sangam Conference” being organized by Hindi Kashmiri Sangam (HKS) in the premises of Zestha Mata Temple here today. Writers from different parts of the country have arrived here to participate in this Conference.
The Governor complimented Prof. Chaman Lal Sapru, President HKS and Dr. Beena Budki, Secretary HKS, for their continuing efforts and contribution towards the enrichment of literature through the promotion of various languages. He observed that interactions among writers in various languages and the promotion of literature and ideas contributes to introducing greater understandings and harmonious relations between different communities and cultures, as well as the enrichment of society as a whole.
The Governor congratulated the authors who received recognition and literary awards which have been instituted by the HKS. He particularly complimented authors who had come from as far away as Karnatka for their continuing efforts to popularize works in Kashmiri.
The HKS honoured the Governor with “Kalhan Smriti Desh Ratan Samman” for his contributions towards the State.
Earlier, the Governor and Mrs. Vohra, First Lady, paid obeisance at the shrine of Zestha Mata.
