JAMMU, Dec 5: Governor N. N. Vohra interacted, at the Raj Bhavan here today, with a group of 21 boys from Kulgam and Anantnag districts who returned to the State today after visiting various places of educational, historical and cultural importance in Mumbai and Pune.
Organized by the Army’s 9 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) under the Sadbhavana Programme, the 15-day educational tour was flagged-off from Army Goodwill School, Wuzur, on November 23. The boys were accompanied by two of their teachers and Captain Abhishek Kumar of 9 RR.
The Governor interacted with this group of 9-11 class boys about the places they had visited during the tour and enquired which they had liked the most. The students were very happy about the exciting opportunity to visit various places of interest in Mumbai and Pune, as also in Jammu. For almost all the students, it was their first ever visit outside the State.
After talking to the boys and their impressions about their visits, the Governor asked the accompanying teachers to organize a competition for the boys and to write an essay of upto two pages on their tour experiences. He announced cash prizes of Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners of this contest, respectively. He expected the result of the competition to be finalized by 10th January 2017.
The Governor presented gifts to the students and their teachers and wished the young boys a very bright future ahead.
