JAMMU, Sept 11: Former minister and senior Congress leader, Mula Ram demanded probe from the Crime Branch against the unprecedented corruption in the functioning of the Jammu Municipal Corporation.
In the meeting held here on Wednesday, Mula Ram lambasted the previous BJP regime for promoted corruption in the State, alleging that the Jammu Municipal Corporation is violating all the norms while allotting development works. He added that the previous regime witnessed a deep- rooted culture of patronized corruption in the State with none to take cognizance of the public cries and frequent reports in the media of wanton irregularities and bungling in the function of the Municipal Corporation.
Mula Ram alleged that massive malpractice was detected in the Jammu Municipal Corporation wherein BJP Corporator during the General House Meeting of JMC levelled serious allegations in the Khilafwarzi Wing of the Corporation.
Hari Singh Chib, president DCC Rural said that large number of unauthorised commercial as well as residential constructions is going on in stands testimony to these allegations of corruption which is flourishing at alarming speed. He added that there are number of illegal constructions going on across the Jammu city which speaks a loud about the suspicious role of enforcement officers of JMC.
Chib asserted that on one side BJP claiming to provide corruption free governance while on the other side its own Corporator leveling charges of corruption against the Mayor JMC, who himself belonged to BJP Party. He stated that there is big nexus in the Jammu Municipal Corporation. “If we talk about the Safaikaramcharis, there is something in records and something on grounds,” he said, adding that development works of Jammu city are standstill due to lack of knowledge of officers sitting at the helm of affairs.
Chib appealed to the Governor Satya Pal Malik to order a probe into the whole matter and expose the nexus failing which the Congress will come on roads and expose all the wrong-doings of the BJP.
