Governor undertakes detailed review of upcoming Multi-Speciality Hospital

KATRA, Apr 18: N. N. Vohra, Governor, who is Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, visited Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME) at Kakryal and undertook a detailed review of the to-date status of various infrastructure facilities and other components of this upcoming Multi-Speciality Hospital.

Kumar and B. Mohandaas, Additional CEOs; Neeraj Gupta, Chief Accounts Officer; SMVDSB; Dr. Raghuvanshi, Vice Chairman, Narayana Hrudayalaya Pvt. Ltd.; Bangalore, Brig. (Retd) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer, SMVDIME; Dr. Vinod Gupta, Director Medical Services, SMVDSB; Dr. S. P Singh; Mr. Subhash Gupta, Superintending Engineer and officers and engineers of the Shrine Board, the Governor inspected the main hospital building, the under-construction residential complex adjacent to it and the other components of this flagship project of the Shrine Board.
The nine residential accommodation buildings, which are under construction in the area adjoining the hospital complex, will provide hostel and residential accommodation for doctors, para-medical staff, nurses, an inn for attendants of patients and a guest house for visiting doctors.
During the inspection of some of the under-construction accommodation buildings, the Governor asked the CEO to ensure speedy completion of all the upcoming buildings so that the entire infrastructure and other requisite facilities are fully ready well before the planned date of the commissioning of the hospital this year. The CEO informed the Governor that all these buildings are in an advanced stage and would be fully completed by end June 2015.
The Governor while taking a round of the entire premises, asked B. Mohandaas, Additional CEO, and the accompanying engineers to immediately undertake estate development of the campus by taking up landscaping and greening of the entire area by planting flowering bushes and other ornamental plants, construction of internal roads and other required facilities as per a well prepared plan.
Later, in a meeting held in the main hospital building, the Governor took a detailed review of the to-date status of the various components of the hospital and the allied facilities, in a presentation made by Dr. Bhandari, CEO of the Shrine Board. He also took stock of the action taken on setting up an Oxygen Generation Plant, Incinerator, Shredding Machine, Laundry Plant, Sewage Treatment Plants, Effluent Treatment Plant, Autoclave, installation of elevators, fire fighting arrangements, interior and allied works and other critical components being put in place as part of the Hospital Project.
The Governor also reviewed the latest position in regard to the purchase of medical equipment and medical furniture and asked the CEO to ensure arrangements for the effective maintenance of the state-of-the-art computerised diagnostic and treatment equipments, with a view to developing this hospital into an institution of excellence and for providing the best possible patient care from the very beginning.
Emphasising the need for undertaking a critical review of the long-term requirements of this hospital, the Governor asked the CEO to take time bound action for construction of additional residential accommodation, hostels and other buildings, on the basis of critical assessments.
Taking a review of the progress made towards the early establishment of a Nursing College and a Medical College in the vicinity of the hospital campus, the Governor issued instructions for finalising blue prints of both these institutions and preparing a comprehensive Master Plan for construction of building complexes, hostels, residential accommodation etc for these colleges, taking into consideration the designs and capacities of both. He stressed that immediate forward action is also required to be taken for the affiliation and other legal aspects prior to the establishment of a Nursing College and Medical College and ensuring that both these institutions start functioning as per the envisaged timelines.
Among those who were also present on the occasion included Rajinder Singh, Officer on Special Duty, (Revenue) and Rajan Gupta, Executive Engineer of the Shrine Board.
