Governor unfurls Tri-colour at Jammu, Ministers at Distt Hqrs

JAMMU, Jan 27: Unfurling of National Flags, patriotic and cultural items by the students of various schools and march past by contingents of para-military forces marked by the Republic Day celebrations across the Jammu province.
The main function was held at Maulana Azad Stadium, Jammu where Governor N N Vohra hoisted the National Flag, inspected the parade and took the salute at the march past of the smart contingents of the Army, Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, men and women contingents of the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, State Disaster Response Force, Jammu and Kashmir Fire and Emergency Services, J&K Forest Protection Force, Ex-Servicemen, National Cadet Corps, Bharat Scouts and Guides, boys and girls schools students and bands of Army, BSF, Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police and various schools.
Usha Vohra, First Lady, Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister, Amrit Malhotra, Chairman, Legislative Council, Ministers, Vice Chairmen of various Boards, Judges of the State High Court, MP, Legislators, senior civil, police and army officers, political and social activists, prominent citizens and a large number of the citizens were present on the occasion.
A colourful cultural programme based on national integration and the glorious composite heritage of the State was presented by thousands of students on the occasion. The cultural items presented included Ekta Ka Prateek Bharat, Rangeela Bharat, Desh Rangeela Rangeela, Jammu, Kashmir Aur Ladakh Ki Ekta, Jammuan Da Haar Te Shingar Dogrey, Bharat Ka Sartaj Mukat Yeh Nandan Ban Kashmir Hai, Teri Hai Zameen Tera Aasman, Dogri folk song and dance and Geetru.
Bhartiyam, in which about 2000 students from various educational institutions participated received a thunderous applause. Gun Drill by 26 Inf Div and Motorcycle acrobatics display by Dare-Devils of J&K Police also received repeated cheers from the jam-packed audience in the stadium. Army weapon and equipment display were other highlights of the function.
Among the other attractions of the programme was the tableau on “Aawoh Parhain Aur Aagay Barhain” by the Directorate of School Education, Jammu; “e-governance in Jammu Municipal Corporation” by Jammu Municipal Corporation; “Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006” presented by the Controller, Drug and Food Control, J&K; “Save the Girl Child” by the Directorate of National Rural Health Mission, Jammu; and another tableaux “Ann Poshi Teli Yeli Van Poshi” displayed by the Urban Forestry Division, Forest Department.
UDHAMPUR: Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand hoisted the National Flag and took salute on march past by 42 contingents drawn from Police, Forest Protection Force, NCC Boys and Girls and Government and private educational institutions. The students presented several items and cultural programmes on the occasion.
MLA Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Director SKPA, Udhampur, Farooq Khan, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Jagjit Kumar, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, P K Pole, senior officers, citizens, students and people in large number were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, DyCM recalled the supreme sacrifices of great freedom fighters of the country, adding that due to their endeavours, country men are living in a free and independent nation.
He reaffirmed the commitment of Coalition Government towards decentralization of power, adding that elections to Urban local bodies would be held soon.
KATHUA: While addressing the Republic Day function after unfurling the National Flag, Minister for Planning, Development, Labour and Employment, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra emphasized the crucial need for maintaining peace and forging harmony to sustain the gains of growth and development in the State.
Highlighting the importance of the Republic Day, Mr Sadhotra paid tributes to the freedom fighters who offered supreme sacrifices to make this day possible. He lauded the role of the people, the security forces and the police for restoring peace and normalcy in the State.
Earlier, the Minister took salute and inspected the parade by contingents of CRPF, District Police, National Cadet Corps, Forest Protection Force, Armed Police, Naval NCC of the Government Degree College, NSS of Government Women College besides contingents of students and Girl Guides.        
Member Parliament Choudhry Lal Singh, MLA Charanjeet Singh, MLC Subash Gupta, District Development Commissioner Zahida Khan, Senior Superintendent of Police Atul Goel were among others present on the occasion.
SAMBA: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla hoisted Tri-colour at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Kehli Mandi and took salute at the march past by contingents of Police, Ex-Servicemen, NCC and students of various Government and private schools.
MLA Samba, Yashpal Kundal, DDC Samba, Mubarak Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, B S Jamwal, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Ashwani Khajuria were among large number of people present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla recalled the supreme sacrifices of great freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Subash Chander Bose, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. He said, “it is due to their endeavours that country men are living in a free and independent nation”. He specially remembered the founder of Indian Constitution Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
Highlighting the achievements registered by the Coalition Government, the Minister said that the State has made long strides towards development in every sphere during last four years of the present Government.
RAJOURI: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma unfurled the Tri-color at the main function held at Police Lines.
The Minister took salute at the march past presented by contingents of para-military forces, State Police, NCC Cadets and school children and inspected the parade. On the occasion, school children presented colourful bonanza of cultural items based on the national integration and composite heritage of Indian culture, which enthralled the gathering.
While greeting the people on the occasion, the Minister said that the day has special significance for the countrymen to celebrate as the India adopted its own Constitution this day. He said this was made possible due to the struggle of our great leaders and numerous sacrifices made by our National Heroes for liberating the country from the clutches of British colonial rulers.
Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Saughat Biswas, DIG, Rajouri-Poonch Range, Danish Rana, SP Rajouri, Mubassar Latifi and other senior officers of civil and police administration were present on the occasion.
REASI: An impressive function was held at Sports Stadium to celebrate 64th Republic Day. Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora unfurled the National Flag and took salute on the march past presented by the school children and security personals.
Speaking on the occasion, Jora said the country attained freedom after long struggle, in which thousands of people sacrificed their lives. He said, “we all have to make collective efforts to strengthen the bonds of unity and integrity of our country”, adding that younger generation has greater responsibility to preserve the hard won independence. This day is special for every Indian and it should be celebrated with pride and enthusiasm, he added.
Present on the occasion were former Minister and MLA Gulabgarh Abdul Ghani Malik, MLA Reasi Baldev Raj Sharma, MLC Jugal Kishor Sharma, DC Reasi Nirmal Sharma and SSP Reasi Thakur Raghuvir Singh.
Similar functions were held at Katra, Mahore, Pouni and Arnas.
DODA: Minister for Roads and Buildings, Abdul  Majid Wani hoisted the Tricolor and took salute at the march past by contingents at Sports Stadium.
Mr Wani highlighted the importance of celebrating the day and its historical significance. He also recalled supreme sacrifices made by freedom fighters.
Describing tourism as back bone of the state’s economy, Mr Wani said that erstwhile District Doda will get boost when Doda-Dessa-Kapran road Kishtwar –Sinthan -Vialoo tunnel and Bhaderwah-Bani-Basohli road projects get completed and area gets road connectivity thereby contributing to the free flow of tourists from one part of the state to the other.
A colorful cultural programme in Siraji, Dogri, Bhaderwahi, Kashmiri and other languages was presented by the school children on the occasion.
Republic Day was also celebrated at Tehsil headquarters Bhaderwah where Sub-Divisional Magistrate Bhaderwah Dr R K Bharti hoisted the Tricolor and took salute of the march past.
KISHTWAR: Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Home, R&B, Housing and Urban Development, Tourism and Culture, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo unfurled the National Flag at Chowgan ground.
Contingents of CISF, CRPF, JKP, Fire Services and various schools participated in parade. A colourful cultural programme was presented by school children. The Minister called upon people to work together and maintain harmony to make the state progress.
POONCH:  Minister of State for Cooperative, Finance Planning and Higher Education Dr Manohar Lal Sharma hoisted the Tricolour and took salute at the March Past.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister highlighted the significance of the day and remembered the sacrifices made by countrymen. He congratulated armed forces for their alertness to external aggression and maintaining peace in the area. He said that district administration also responded rapidly to the situation created by heavy snowfall by clearing roads, restoring power and water supply in towns of Mendhar, Poonch, Surankote, Mandi, Chandak within shortest possible time.     
DDC Ajeet Kumar Sahu, SP Shamsheer Hussain, ADDC, ADC, officers of District administration, senior citizens, Sarpanchs and large number of people participated in the event.
Similar function was held at Tehsil HQ of the District where MLA Poonch Ajaz Ahmed Jan unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march past.          
RAMBAN: Minister of State for Technical Education, Power, Information, Rural Development, Law, Hospitality and Protocol, Viqar Rasool Wani hoisted the Tricolor and took salute of the march past.
A colorful cultural programme was also presented by the school children on the occasion which kept the audience spell bound.
MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar, DC Ramban S A Butt, SSP Ramban besides other District and Sectoral officers and a huge gathering of people attended the Republic Day celebrations.
