Govt accords sanction to voluntary retirement of Farooq Shah

JAMMU, Feb 23: The State Government has accorded sanction to the voluntary retirement of Farooq Ahmad Shah from Indian Administrative Service with effect from February 19, 2019.
An order in this regard was issued today by the General Administration Department, according to which, the sanction has been accorded in pursuance of the sub-rule (2) of Rule 16 of the All India Services (Death -cum Retirement Benefits) rules, 1958, read with proviso second below this sub-rule.
As already reported, Farooq Shah, an IAS officer of 2004 batch of J&K, had applied for voluntary retirement from Government services for purportedly taking a plunge in active politics. He is likely to join National Conference and may contest upcoming Assembly elections from Tangmarg Assembly constituency.
