Govt admits shortage of doctors, paramedics in Akhnoor

SRINAGAR, June 20: Government today said out of the sanctioned 245 posts of doctors, technicians and paramedics, 114 posts are lying vacant at the Akhnoor constituency in Jammu.
In a written reply to a question of MLA Rajeev Sharma in Lower House, the Minister incharge Health and Medical Education stated that against the sanctioned strength of 245 including 96 doctors, 38 technicians and 111 paramedics, 114 posts are lying vacant including 53 doctors, 24 technicians and 37 paramedics respectively.
The Minister stated that the vacant posts have been referred to the concerned recruiting agencies and will be filled up as soon as selection list is received. “Besides, under National Health Mission, 12 doctors, 19 technicians and 26 paramedics have been provided for health institutes of Akhnoor Constituency,” the Minister stated.
The Minister further stated that the construction of new 100 bedded buildings for sub-district hospital is under execution through J&K Housing Board at a cost of Rs. 3231.39 lakhs, against which Rs. 951 lakhs stand released ending March, 2016. Rs. 500 lakhs have been proposed for the project during the current financial year.
