JAMMU, May 28: Accusing the present regime of treating the educated under-employed and semi-employed youth of J&K as disposables, senior AAP leader and former Minister, Harsh Dev Singh has sought justice for the beleaguered class of contractual, consolidated and daily rated workers engaged in various Government departments for the last several years.
“Govt moves regarding disengagement of employees by various Government departments after utilizing their services for years is not only an abhorable practice but amounted to human rights violation of most serious nature,” he said while addressing a press conference in Jammu today.
Seeking a fair deal for the educated youth in consonance with the commitments made by the BJP Govt, Mr Singh said that the present ‘use and throw’ policy adopted by the Govt with respect to its employees could have earth shaking consequences with disastrous fallouts.
Pointing towards the tweets of some authorities that NYC, REK, REZ, REJ employees shall not be disengaged, Mr Singh sought a Govt order withdrawing the previous order of dis-engagement embodying Govt’s proposal of holding of fresh selections through SSB and other recruitment agencies for the said posts. He said that a Govt order continues to remain valid until rescinded through a subsequent Govt order. “It can’t be nullified by a mere tweet or assurance of an authority or political party. Not only the said order needs to be revoked but Govt must ensure time bound regularization of all such contractual and daily rated workers as per its previous commitments,” maintained Mr Singh.
Pointing towards the pathetic plight of the unemployed youth protesting on the roads every other day, Mr Singh accused the BJP Govt of cheating the Daily Wagers, BSF & CISF aspirants, Border Battalions aspirants, NHM, MGNREGA, SAMAGRA, Anganwari & Asha Workers, Dental Surgeons, Contractual Teachers, SPOs, VDCs, Home Guards, SHGs, REKs, empanelled RETs, Pharmacists, NYCs, NYVs etc during elections on the assurances of gainful employment and regularization.
Yash Paul Kundal, former Minister and senior AAP leader, who was also present in the press conference, said that the Govt had earlier dis-engaged 1500 Health professionals engaged under SRO-24. Likewise, he added, Govt arbitrarily dis-engaged over 1000 subject specific RMSA teachers. “It has dis-engaged 918 employees working in Social Welfare Deptt for several years. It had rendered 5000 SBM employees jobless by discontinuing the said scheme,” he said.
