JAMMU, Nov 6: Government today ordered appointment of 12 officers as the Union Territory level Nodal Officers for the smooth conduct of forthcoming General Elections to the Lok Sabha-2024.
As per an order issued in this context by the General Administration Department, Administrative Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, shall be the Nodal Officer to look after the areas/issues related to drinking water and sanitation and the Administrative Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, shall look after the areas and issues related to local bodies while as the Administrative Secretary, Power Development Department, shall work as a Nodal Officer for areas and issues related to power.
The areas and concerns of Public Works shall be taken care of by Administrative Secretary, Public Works Department and Education related issues shall be looked after by the Administrative Secretary, School Education Department.
The order further said that Social Welfare related issues and areas shall be taken care of by Administrative Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sales Tax related issues by Commissioner, State Taxes, J&K, and transport related issues by Managing Director, J&K Regional Transport Corporation.
While the Excise related issues shall be the responsibility of Commissioner, Excise Department, Migrants related issues shall be taken care of by the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, banks and financial institutions related issued by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, J&K Bank Ltd, who shall also be the SLBC convenor.
