Govt bias on special scholarship scheme: JKTF

JAMMU, Aug 15:  The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Federation (JKTF) has urged the Government to cover all the students from J&K State including those who opted for CBSE course, under special scholarship scheme of the Central Government.
The JKTF members in a meeting held at Udhampur under the chairmanship of Rajesh Sharma district president, criticized the eligibility criteria for special scholarship scheme of Central Govt issued by the Higher Education Department for the students of  State, who are doing their degree courses or professional courses either from the State or outside. As per the circular tuition fee, hostel fee etc will be paid to the student in the form of scholarship under special scholarship scheme by Central Govt, whose family income is less than Rs 4.5 lakh and passed his/her 12th class examination from Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education.
This benefit is applicable only for those students who have passed their 12th class examination from JKBOSE and a large number of students who have passed under CBSE will not be benefited by this circular. The JKTF stressed for review of this biased and discriminatory decision. It said all the students who are the permanent resident of J&K must be treated equally for the benefit of the scheme. There should not a step-motherly treatment with the students on the basis that one has passed his 12th class examination from JKBOSE and the other from CBSE.
