KISHTWAR, Nov 11: Asserting that peace was imperative for development and prosperity, Member Legislative Council and Member Wakf Council Firdous Tak today congratulated people of Kishtwar for upholding tradition of communal harmony and brotherhood.
“The harmony has been inherited by the present generation from our ancestors in this land of Sufi saints. Upholding the tradition will lead us on the path of development and prosperity”, he said.
Tak was speaking at the annual day function of Islamia Faridia Educational and Research Center, administered by Auqaf Department. The school is more than 100 year old and known as one of the best educational institutions in Chenab region.
The MLC extended gratitude to present Government for establishing a Nursing College, providing financial assistance to the institute for infrastructure upgradation besides several other measures which has led to infrastructural growth. He said the Auqaf Department was since decades being used as political platform but the PDP led Government brought complete administrative reforms ensuring transparency and accountability in the system.
He said that it was the then Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed who freed this institution from the clutches of favoritism and political heavy weights and used it in bring reforms contributing in the prosperity of the State. He said that it was his vision and policy that Auqaf established two technical universities and at least a dozen nursing colleges across the State, which is a major reform.
Tak said that establishing University in Kishtwar was one of the dream project of the leader and the present Government was working in this direction. The MLC said that around 200 students are getting free education in the school. He announced that he will mobilize individuals, NGOs and business establishments to adopt these children, who will pay the fee to the institute. The institution will also work for providing boarding facility for the girls students in near future besides exploring possibilities to strengthen infrastructure.
