GOOL/ ARNAS, Sept 17: Assuring full attention towards the under-developed areas of the State, vice-president of PDP, Sartaj Madni said that the present Government is carrying the baggage of neglect from the previous Government.
Madni was addressing a gathering at Gool and  Arnas where several workers from National Conference and Congress joined the party. He said that the Government has been grappling with difficulties arising out of mismanagement of funds for development and that is why hilly areas including Gool have not been able to keep pace with the developed areas of the State.
“PDP Government is committed to undo this dismay by ensuring that administration is geared for rational utilization of available resource for key sectors like roads, bridges, public health, power and rural development,” he said.
Madni said that Chenab region is  rich in water resources and has contributed a lot to the State’s economy. “The area needs to be compensated fully,” he added.
He expressed dismay over the rising unemployment and lack of economic activity and assured the people that Chief Minister Mehbooba will ensure appropriate response to the public issues.
Madni sought intervention of the Chief Minister in ensuring that locals of the region get priority in employment arising out of the ongoing projects sponsored by the Central Ministries. He said that it is unfortunate that locals of Gool have not been the beneficiaries of Sangaldan Railway Project and hoped that Railway Ministry will ensure that priorities be accorded to the locals in jobs and contracts.
The gathering was also addresses by PDP co-ordinator and local leader Intiyaz Shan who placed before the visiting leader a charter of demands for roads, employment and drinking water management.
