JAMMU, Jan 14: The Govt College of Education, Canal Road, Jammu, a constituent college of Cluster University of Jammu, has achieved a significant milestone by receiving recognition for its M Ed (Master of Education) course of two years’ duration with an annual intake of 50 students (one unit) and the B Ed (Bachelor of Education) course of two years’ duration with an annual intake of two units (100 students).
This recognition has been granted under clause 7(16) of the NCTE Regulations 2014 by the NRC-NCTE, New Delhi, during its 431st meeting (Volume-1). The recognition will be effective from the academic session 2025-26.
Principal of the College, Dr Jyoti Parihar, highlighted the importance of this recognition, stating, “This milestone marks a new era for the College, allowing us to expand our academic offerings and contribute meaningfully to the field of teacher education. It strengthens our resolve to provide quality education and prepare future educators who can shape the next generation.”
Dr Parihar extended her gratitude to the Higher Education Department of J&K and Vice-Chancellor of Cluster University of Jammu, Prof K S Chandrasekhar, for constant encouragement to academic excellence.
This recognition for M Ed and B Ed courses reinforces the status of Govt College of Education, Canal Road, Jammu, as a premier institution for teacher education in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir further enabling it to contribute to the educational landscape of the region and beyond.
