Govt committed to improve education standard: Bhalla

JAMMU, May 28: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla, today said that the Government has formulated a comprehensive plan to further improve education standard in the State so that the students could get quality education at their doorstep institutions.
The Minister was addressing a gathering after inauguration of newly upgraded Government High School (GHS) building at Digiana.
Chief Education Officer, Tarseem Lal Bhagat, Principal of the School, Swatanter Sharma besides teaching and non-teaching staff members including students, parents and locals were present on the occasion.
Mr. Bhalla greeted the people for upgradation of Middle School to High School. He informed that Government has spent Rs. 3 crore under Rashtriya Madhyamic Shiksha Abhiyan (RAMSA) on upgradation of Middle Standard School to High School and High School to Higher Secondary School in Gandhi Nagar constituency. He further said that Rs. 1 crore have also been spent on construction of new building at Government High School, Digiana. He said Government has submitted a proposal to Union School Education Ministry for upgradation of 10 more Middle and High Schools of his home constituency.
On the demand of the teaching fraternity, the Minister asked Roads and Buildings Department to construct one more toilet block in the school premises for girls and boys.
Maintaining that the Government schools have well qualified and adequate infrastructure, Mr. Bhalla called upon the parents to send their wards in these schools which are determined to impart quality education.
The Minister said that Government has already upgraded 13 schools under RAMSA so that the students of the areas could get education at their doorstep school. He called upon the parents to admit their wards in Govt schools where books, uniform and midday meals up to 8th standard are provided free of cost to them.
Mr. Bhalla said that Government has constituted a team of officers for identifying those children who are not getting admission due to financial constraints.
Later, Mr. Bhalla also visited Model Town and Mirkhari Mohalla in Gangyal and kick started Rs. 18 lakh development works including laying of 6″dia water pipes in Model Town and construction of lanes and drains in Mirakhari Mohalla in Channi Himmat.
