Govt committed to inclusive development of far flung pockets: LC Chairman

KARGIL, Nov 5: On the final day of his 4-day extensive tour of Zanskar Sub Division, Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali today announced 20 solar water heaters out of his CDF funds in favour of the villagers of Tashi Stongday, Shakma Karpoo, Rangdum and Rangdum Gonpa hamlets.
The Chairman also announced to provide CDF funds for purchase of generator set in favour of the inhabitants of Tashi Stongday besides kitchen set and 6 sewing machines for Farol Parkachik hamlet.
Deputy Commissioner Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain, SSP Kargil Tsering Gyalpo besides other concerned officers accompanied the Chairman.
On the occasion, the Chairman interacted with a number of public delegations and took first hand appraisal of their issues and grievances. The inhabitants of Tashi Stongday, Rangdum and Shakma Karpoo highlighted their demands pertaining to installation of mobile towers, provision of DSPT phones, repair of irrigation khuls, water reservoirs and flood protection bunds, availability of medicines for timely treatment of cattle diseases besides other demands.
Haji Anayat Ali gave patient hearing to their demands and assured of their fulfilment in a phased manner. The Chairman also directed the concerned officers to identify BPL families for provision of free LPG connections under PMUY scheme.
Reiterating the commitment of the Government towards the inclusive development of the far flung pockets of the State, Haji Anayat Ali said that to connect these far off villages with the mainstream through mobile services,  a number of mobile towers are being installed next year while as a proposal to connect Zanskar with Power Grid is also on the cards.
Meanwhile, the inhabitants of Farol Parkachik, Achambur, Tai Suru and Panikhar areas projected demands that included the immediate repair of major irrigation Khul and completion of the remaining works of footbridge at Achambur, the provision of DSPT phones, provision of adequate stock of medicare facilities for winter months, repair of water supply schemes and pipelines, opening of sheep husbandry center at Farol Parkachik among several other demands. The inhabitants of Tai Suru and Panikhar raised demands for the construction of a number of link roads between Dak Bungalow Tai Suru to Astana Khor and Pursa, construction of parking lot cum playground and ice hockey rink, bridge at Nam Suru, water reservoir at Goma Kargee, flood protection works at Maitaa Broq, blacktopping of road from Nam Suru bridge to Khaos besides other demands.
The Chairman assured the delegations of the fulfilment of all their genuine demands.
