Govt committed to all round development of State: DyCM

JAMMU, July 21: Reiterating resolve of the Government to upgrade rural infrastructure, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today said focused attention is being paid to development of remote and border belts on modern lines. He said work on the road map to address development aspirations of those living in far-flung areas has already begun results of which have started becoming visible on ground.
“With active support from the Union Government mega projects have been launched in the State for all round development of every nook and corner of the State besides ensuring equitable development of all regions and sub-regions,” he added.
He was addressing a large attended monthly public meeting at Rajpura, Pargwal.
On the occasion the Deputy Chief Minister distributed wheel chairs, tricycles, hearing aids and sewing machine sets to the beneficiaries. 7 wheel chairs, 5 tri-cycles and 5 hearing aids were distributed.
Tara Chand said Panchayati Raj functionaries have been entrusted with functions of over fourteen departments and an empowered grass root democracy has been put in place to give fillip to rural development, adding that PRIs also have to play prominent role in making people aware of different schemes and programs initiated by the Government from time to time.
“Series of registration cum awareness camps have been organised for ensuring large scale participation of people in different schemes of Labour, social welfare, agriculture, rural and other allied departments and now it is duty of Sarpanchs and Panchs to ensure maximum participation in these camps,” he said.
During the pubic meeting scores of political workers of BJP from the area joined the Congress party in presence of the Deputy Chief Minister.
Welcoming the activists into the party fold, Tara Chand said the party is committed to all round development and welfare of all sections of the society. The party has always received with open arms all those who wish to work for betterment of the society and join hands in national building by positive approach towards development, he added.
Calling upon youth to derive maximum benefit from employment schemes, the Deputy Chief Minister described Sher-e-Kashmir Employment Welfare Program for Youth (SKEWPY) as flagship program and a big leap forward to resolve the burgeoning problem of unemployment. He said the policy has provision for giving financial help to unemployed besides encouraging them to start their own ventures.
