SRINAGAR: Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development Asiea Naqash today said the Government is committed to bring out a comprehensive Srinagar Master Plan.
While speaking at an event organized by The Institution of Engineers to discuss the Master Plan of Srinagar city (2015-35), the Minister said the aim to revise the master plan was to ensure that there no discrepancy in it.
She said utmost care has been taken to include every component in the Master Plan of Srinagar city. The Minister said the experts have already chalked out strategy to upgrade existing land use plan, population growth, urbanisation, transportation, heritage conservation plan, tourism projections and policy, lake conservation policy etc.
During the event, the Minister was apprised about the salient features of Master plan which generated a discussion among participants. While interacting with the participants, she asked them to come forward with their recommendations and suggestions — to be incorporated into the draft.
Khurshid Ganie, Chief Information Commissioner, stressed upon experts to make optimal use of resources for creating a sustainable infrastructure. He said that there is a need to incentivize the private planners, colonizers and entrepreneurs to create a satellite township.
The meeting was attended by Chief Town Planner, Fayaz Ahmad Khan, M. Saleem Beg Convener INTACH (Kashmir Chapter), Engineers and Scientists from various departments.
