Govt committed to build effective, reliable road network in State: Hanjura

SRINAGAR: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura Thursday said that the State Government is taking a slew of measures to build an effective and reliable road network which he added is the key component to overall progress of the State.

He said that Government has embarked on massive developmental programmes to build new roads, bridges and other public infrastructure in Char-e-Sharif Constituency.

While reviewing the macadamization, upgradation of roads in his Constituency, the Minister directed that those roads which are in dilapidated condition should be taken up under priority to improve the road connectivity and facilitate people in the Constituency.

The Minister was informed that 23.5 km of road length has been put in for tendering for macadamization and work has already been started on some road projects.

Hanjura directed the concerned that Bonyar- Buzgu via GogjiPathri (Nilnag) road and Nagam –Hayatpora upto Kanidajan roads should be taken up under Central Road Fund (CRF).

He also said that Char-e-Sharif-Tilsura road, Repora-Wagam via Rangar road, Nagam Takya-Char-e-Sharif via Hapatnar, Chrawani- Bachnar via Bonhar road, Daad Ompora- Mukam road, Nowgam-Dudkhatu road should be taken up under NABARD.

During the meeting, the Minister directed that a proper drainage system should be put in place from Char-e-Sharif-Pakharpora road to avoid damages to the road stretch. Besides, he asked the officers to macadamize Watoora-Repora via Buchroo on priority.

Regarding Char-e-Sharif- Hapatnar road, which was damaged by landslides, he called for immediate repair of the road so that people travelling on the road don’t face any incontinence. He stressed that protection bunds should be constructed wherever necessary to facilitate hassle-free travel of motorists.

On the occasion, the Minister was briefed that work on the motorable bridge at Kherigund will be started within a week’s time and work on approach road will also be undertaken simultaneously.

Commissioner Secretary R&B, Superintendent R&B Kashmir, Executive Engineer Sub-Division Chadoora/Char-e-Sharif and other concerned attended the meeting.
