Govt committed to channelize youth energy in right direction: Sadhotra

JAMMU, Sept 22: Minister for Planning and Development, Labour and Employment, Ajay Sadhotra today said that Coalition Government, headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, is committed to channelize the energy of youth towards right direction for equitable and speedy development of the State.
He was addressing a public meeting at Chiban Mohalla Flora Nagbani in Marh block convened to listen to the public grievances.
He appealed youth to come forward and avail the benefits of self employment schemes launched by the State and Central Governments, especially SKWEPY. He deliberated upon the features of Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA) which facilitate people of the State with an accountable and time bound public service delivery system.
Sarpanchs, Panchs and prominent people of Flora Nagbani and adjoining areas apprised the Minister of their grievances and demands which mainly included construction of approach road to Flora Nagbani Village, renovation and black topping of various link roads, repair of lanes and drains, etc.
Sadhotra listened to their demands and grievances and assured that all their issues would be addressed at the earliest. He also expressed hope of getting tehsil status for Marh Block soon.
The Minister cautioned the people against the political groups, which are bent upon to divide the people on religious, caste and regional lines and appealed them to supplement Govt’s efforts of ensuring overall growth of the State.
“Omar led Coalition Government has started a new era of developmental activities in every area of the state with focus on far off and hilly parts,” he claimed.
He also distributed cheques among handicapped beneficiaries under schemes of Social Welfare Department.
Earlier, the Minister visited Bhagatpura in Marh Block and assessed the damage caused to the Band (protection wall) due to recent heavy rainfall and flood. He was accompanied by Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control and other senior officers of Irrigation & Flood Control and Revenue departments.
He directed the Chief Engineer to restore the damaged band in the area so that the cultivation land would be saved. It was informed that the restoration work on Band would be started in the month of November this year with an estimated cost of Rs. 30 lakh.
He said that the Coalition Government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has given first priority to restoration of services and repair of public assets besides rehabilitation of the flood affected people. He said that the Chief Minister himself monitoring the entire exercise to ensure that none of the affected areas are left out in the restoration process.
