Govt committed to equitable development: DyCM

JAMMU, Sept 25: Calling officers to gear up activities for time bound completion of development projects, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said the Government is committed to equitable development of all three regions of the State and measures are afoot to fulfill the promises made to the people on development front.
“Time line completion of mega infrastructure development projects is necessary for addressing development aspirations of the people,” he stressed.
He was chairing a high level review meeting of civil and police administration, at Civil Secretariat, here today.
During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held on matters related to security and development and a detailed review of the projects undertaken in the flood affected areas was taken.
Additional Commissioner, Jammu Robin Singh, Inspector General Police Jammu Rajesh Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Jammu Kiran Wattal, SSP Jammu Atul Goel and other senior officers and engineers from PWD, PDD and I&FC attended the meeting.
Later, a series of deputations from different areas of the region and Jammu city called on the Deputy Chief Minister and projected demands of their respective areas.
Mr. Tara Chand said that the Government has taken several initiatives to develop the city on modern lines and several mega projects have been launched for the purpose. He said Mubarak Mandi Heritage project is one such ambitious project which aims to develop the complex into a major tourist spot of the region.
“Tourism potential of the region has to be exploited to the maximum by way of promoting pilgrim tourism and upgrading facilities at major tourist spots of the area,” he added.
He said artificial lake on Tawi River, Cable Car Project, Golf Course Sidhra and Cultural Heritage Centre are among the major initiatives taken up by the coalition government for all round development of the city and its adjoining areas.
The Deputy Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to all the demands put forth by the people and assured for early redressal of all the genuine issues. He also issued on spot directions to the concerned authorities for earliest possible redressal of the matters brought up by the people.
