Govt committed to foster industrial growth: Ganga

JAMMU, Dec 8: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga chaired the 133rd meeting of Board of Directors of J&K SIDCO, here today.
The Board reviewed the progress on various industrial infrastructure projects undertaken by J&K SIDCO.
The progress on development works of the new Industrial Estates at Ghati, in Kathua and Ompora in Budgam, were also reviewed in the meeting. Land acquisition process for IGC Samba Phase- III was also discussed.
The Board was also informed about the major projects being initiated by SIDCO including Trade Facilitation Centre at Salamabad, Uri, Phase – II, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), IT Tower Building Phase II and National Mission on Food Processing.
It is pertinent to mention here that J&K SIDCO was designated as State Mission Directorate/Nodal Agency for National Mission on Food Processing for implementation & Monitoring of NMFP scheme in the State.
It was informed that in response to wide publicity of various schemes of NMFP by SIDCO, Mission Directorate in the last three years received 124 proposals from prospective entrepreneurs for availing grant-in-aid under various components of the scheme to the extent of Rs 17.45 crore till December 2014.
Managing Director SIDCO, Amit Sharma  while enumerating the achievements of the Corporation informed that the work of Trade Facilitation Centre, Phase-I at Salamabad Uri, which was taken up with an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore was completed with in the specified time period and handed it over to the concerned agency, works at National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) at Rangreth worth Rs 87 lakh completed and handed over to the NIELIT and the works worth Rs 81 lakh completed and handed over to the Craft Development Institute.
Various issues pertaining to the development of the industries were also discussed in the meeting.
Mr. Ganga emphasized on judicious land use plan in the Industrial Estates of the State and issued instructions for retrieval of un-utilized allotted land so that the same can be offered to prospective entrepreneurs being in queue for allotment of land.
The Minister said that the Government is fully committed to foster industrial growth in the State and directed the officers to provide conducive environment to budding entrepreneurs who are interested in establishing Industrial units in the state which would help in generating revenue for the overall development of the industry sector in the State.
