JAMMU:Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh today said that the government is committed to empower the tribal and other under privileged segments of the society socially, economically and politically.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the media persons at a press conference in Civil Secretariat, here this morning.
Choudhary Lal Singh said that the Government is making all out efforts to uplift the living standards of the people of the State especially under privileged sections of the society like Gujjar and Bakerwal community.
The Minister said the Government is committed to establish residential colonies for tribal population with all basic facilities including drinking water, road connectivity, power, health, education and other amenities.
Choudhary Lal Singh said that his effort is to ensure that forests and environment is saved and preserved for posterity. He added that present dispensation has initiated a number of measures in this regard which will immensely help in curbing the menace of encroachments.
