Govt committed to provide succour to all BPL families: Veeri

SHOPIAN, Nov 4: Minister of Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri, today said that the Government is making all out efforts to provide succour to all below poverty line families in the State.
He was speaking at a function organized by the Rural Development Department, where he distributed 50 solar panels and cheques worth Rs 68 lakh under IAY and Swacch Bharat Mission among various beneficiaries.
Legislators, Aijaz Ahmed Mir, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, besides Deputy Commissioner Shopian G.M. Dar, SSP Shopian and other concerned officers of the district administration were also present on the occasion.
The Minister stressed on strengthening accountability and monitoring system to bring transparency in the implementation of various Government welfare schemes and programmes. He said that officials should prepare a list of deserving persons for sanction of IAY and SBM cases so that the relief under these centrally sponsored schemes percolates to the grass root level.
Veeri reiterated that the Government is committed to provide all basic amenities to the people especially in far flung areas of the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Legislator Mir Aijaz said that the Government is working on various initiatives to assist poor and marginalized sections of the society.
