JAMMU, Dec 20: Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri today said the Government is committed to bring the State on the path of holistic socio-economic development.
The Minister was speaking after the inauguration of a vital bridge on Janipur-Amb Gharota Road. He was accompanied by Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat, Chief Engineer R&B Jammu Alok Mengi, and Superintending Engineer R&B Jammu besides other officers of the department.
The construction of 21-meter bridge was started on war-footing after it got washed away during flashfloods of 2014.
Taking note of the difficulties faced by the people in the absence of the bridge, R&B Department started its construction at a cost of Rs 106 lakh under Prime Ministers Reconstruction Programme. The bridge would benefit people of 15 major villages of Bhalwal Tehsil.
Veeri said the Government has proposed this route as alternate Jammu- Akhnoor road and is keen to further upgrade this important road.
He said the present Government is fully conscious of the problems of the people and will leave no stone unturned to alleviate these problems.
Stating that development of rural and far flung areas is high on the priority of the coalition Government, Veeri said better connectivity will ensure equitable development of all areas.
Felicitating the people on the inauguration of this vital link that connects Jammu with Akhnoor via Janipur-Amb Gharota, the Health Minister said that vehicular movement will be eased substantially as the link was washed away due to flashfloods a couple of years ago. “Since then the traffic was diverted through the nallah that caused lot of inconvenience to the commuters,” he said.
Referring to the condition of the entire Janipur-Akhnoor road, which is under upgradation, Bali urged the R&B Minister to personally intervene to expedite the project. He also sought upgradation/renovation of some important roads in Raipur-Domana constituency.
