JAMMU, Mar 23: Former MLC and PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma questioned the State Government for its failure to find an acceptable and amicable solution to the ongoing bandh in Nowshera and unrest in Sunderbani and Kalakote over the demand of district status.
Justifying the demands of the agitating people for creation of new district comprising areas of Nowshera, Sunderbani and Kalakote, Sharma said that initial mishandling and delay in according due consideration to the demands of agitating people has complicated the resolution of a simple issue.
The people are resentful over the irrational and arbitrary announcements of ADCs for some places in the province surely on political considerations, ignoring the genuine claims of this area. The ruling leaders also played their role eyeing to reap political benefits out of this issue, as a result a conflict of interests was created by vested interests which created wedge in Nowshera, Sunderbani and Kalakote.
The Government is now trying “hit and trial methods” to resolve the issue but every move of the Government, if it solves the problem at one place, leads to more trouble at other places. The Government finds itself into an awkward situation with no road map to deal with the ongoing unrest in these areas.
He demanded that the Government should immediately consider grant of district status, as it already stands recommended by the Cabinet sub-committee of previous Government as well as Billoria Commission.
Meanwhile, PCC leader appealed to the people that keeping in view the indifferent attitude of the Government, they should consider to change the course of their agitation and continue their struggle for the district status.
