JAMMU, Jan 25: Harsh Dev Singh, former Minister and Chairman AAP J&K SCC today accused the Government of concealing names of blue-eyed encroachers.
“While the J&K Govt claims to have identified the cases of land encroachments by influential persons and land mafia and publicized the names of some of the opposition leaders in the media, it seems to have granted immunity to its blue-eyed encroachers and leaders associated or affiliated with saffron party,” he said while addressing a press conference, here today.
Harsh Dev pointed out that the names of some NC, PDP and other opposition leaders are being mentioned in the lists of encroachers as being circulated in the media, but the Govt functionaries seem to be under pressure to cover up the land scams of the saffron leaders.
Referring towards the illegal encroachments by several Ex-Ministers/MLAs, Singh claimed that majority of them originally belonged to BJP. “And other encroacher, Ex-Ministers and MLAs who belonged to opposition parties had crossed floors and joined BJP to escape the wrath of investigating agencies and had therefore become ‘clean’ after merging their identity in the saffron stream,” he said and added that both the aforesaid categories of land encroachers had therefore become immune from legal action.
Harsh Dev further alleged that majority of BJP leaders were also illegally occupying Govt bungalows and other Estates mansions with the present bureaucratic rule conniving with them in illegal retention of the said public premises. “All comforts and luxuries including free furniture, fixtures, TVs, ACs, refrigerators are being provided to the said usurpers of Govt property by the Estates Deptt at tax-payers expense,” he added
Strongly condemning the selective action of the Govt against the inconvenient politicians and other poor people, Singh called for strict penal action against all politicians/ land mafia while ensuring that the poor, landless and other indigent farmers were not harassed or dispossessed of their marginal land holdings.
